Sotto calls on DOH to search for other possible cures

MANILA — The coronavirus disease of 2019 continues to surge despite the lockdown, afflicting the people’s health and the country’s economy. Some citizens have turned to available drugs whose use and effects have been circulating around the worldwide web and social media. Searching for other possible cures, people find a fighting chance instead of merely succumbing to the disease.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III, who recently admitted that he takes Ivermectin drug once a week as a form of prevention, calls on the Department of Health (DOH) to look for other possible cures amid the widening spread of the virus.

“I also take once every two weeks, yes, for prevention,” says Sotto in an interview over dwIZ, confirming he takes Ivermectin in his own effort to avoid getting infected with COVID-19.

The pandemic has claimed more than 16,000 Filipino lives since it was declared in March 2020. Despite the lockdowns, the surge keeps on while vaccine supply, aside from those donated, have not yet arrived.

Meanwhile, the Senate is looking into the Government’s vaccine program. The Senate has decided to procure Sputnik V to vaccinate senate employees and staff after the IATF gave it a go. (LO/The MiNT)
