PACC washes hands over call to probe VP Leni Robredo

On Wednesday, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) clarified that the agency did not request the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate Vice President Leni Robredo for allegedly competing with the national government’s efforts to combat coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a statement, Commissioner Greco Belgica explained that the previous comment by fellow PACC Commissioner Manuelito Luna was merely his “personal opinion” and request, and does not reflect the feelings of the anti-corruption body as a whole.

“PACC is not asking anyone to investigate VP Leni Robredo,” Belgica stated.

“It was a personal opinion and request made by one of the commissioners of PACC that does not reflect the sentiments of the commission,” he added.

Likewise, Belgica said the PACC was grateful to everyone, including Robredo, who helped the frontliners and those in need.

“This is not the time to engage in politics,” Belgica said. “We are not concerned with any personality. Our main concern is to ensure that all Filipinos who are in need will get all the help the President promised they need. Our concern is to end this COVID-19 virus.”

“Mag tulungan po tayo,” he added. “Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng tumutulong pati ang hindi lumalabas ng bahay. Tayo po ay nakakatulong sa ating pagsunod.”

Belgica stated in a live Facebook video: “All aid is welcome, including assistance from Vice President Leni Robredo.”
