Julia Baretto is the Philippine Coast Guard’s new auxiliary ensign in its K9 squadron, joining boyfriend actor Gerald Anderson who is also PCG Auxiliary Lieutenant Commander.
MANILA — PCG commandant Admiral George Ursabia Jr welcomed Ms Barretto in the donning and oath-taking ceremonies held at the PCG national headquarters in Port Area, Manila for Auxiliary Ensign Julia Barretto together with auxiliarists Ando Cruise Catipay, Jalil Laidan, and Harold Jocel Talan.
Ursabia expressed his gratitude to the new members of the PCGA for committing themselves to the PCG’s tradition of dedicated service to the nation through their support for the Coast Guard in the performance of humanitarian missions and disaster response operations.
During the event, the Coast Guard commandant highlighted the increasing need for K9 units in the field in the promotion of national security.
With the construction of the PCG-Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) K9 Academy in Clark, Pampanga, Ursabia shared that the Department of Transportation (DoTr), through PCG and PPA, could soon provide high quality and competent K9 units in different Government agencies nationwide.
The donning and oathtaking of the new Coast Guard recruits was also witnessed by Auxiliary Lieutenant Commander Gerald Anderson of the PCGA K9 Squadron. (TRC/The MiNT)
