House Speaker Cayetano offers his resignation: Here’s what netizens say

A few days ago, a huge commotion in the House of Representatives happened after House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano offered his resignation to make way for Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco—which by the way won’t happen because 184 legislators voted to reject the offer.

To sum it all off, President Rodrigo Duterte announced back in 2019 that the Speaker of the House role would be shared. Cayetano will be the House Speaker until October 2020, and Velasco was supposed to take over until the 18th Congress ends in 2022.

“Cayetano” became a trending topic once again at Twitter, and major shades are being thrown around. Check out how the people reacted to the recent drama below:

User @rryyyaaaannnn posted his tweet mimicking a movie poster and gave it a title: Alan Peter Cayetano’s Meltdown

Cayetano bringing a Bible and the Treaty of Paris in the Plenary Hall didn’t sit right with @dyaelgonzales saying that the Bible has no place in the secular halls of lawmaking.

@darnitJC used the famous game ‘Among Us’ to show that Cayetano was the traitor at the lower chamber and said 347 impostor remains.

User @igracebiyaya made a good observation by asking why are Duterte and Cayetano offering to resign when they can just do it?

@EdsonCGuido shaded the whole drama by saying that it is perfectly executed with a complete script.
