Hearing to regulate motorcycle taxis scheduled for next week at the Senate

We all know how horrible the traffic has become in Metro Manila. It literally takes hours to commute a 10km distance. That’s why Angkas seemed like a freaking God send to the masses when it first came out in 2017. At that time Uber has just left the continent, Grab prices are so high that it would feel cheaper if you were robbed instead, so people were left on their own yet again asking for a better public transportation alternative. That’s why Angkas or any other motor taxi type transportations have quickly become a part of the everyday Filipino’s commute.

It feels like a long time coming but finally the Senate will address the fate of the regulation of motorcycle taxis for our country on January 14, 2020. The hearing will touch base on what laws could be put up for the regulation of motor taxis as well as the concern on ownership. DOTr will also submit their findings from the pilot run of the 3 motorcycle taxis, Angkas, JoyRide, and Move It. The hearing will most likely rely heavily on the result of the pilot run.

Fingers crossed, guys! Hopefully they’ll be able to reach a decision where there’s a win for the masses and everyone else.
