Classes will be opened on October 5, 2020 and closed on June 16, 2021, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).
The DepEd released the clarification after last week’s announcement that the opening of classes originally scheduled on August 24 has been moved to October.
The upcoming school year will last 200 days, the minimum duration required by law, the agency added. In addition, Christmas vacation is scheduled from December 20 to January 3.
DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones reiterated that October 5 is the final date for school reopening, and they are “all systems go” on the target date.
“We trust that this is the final adjustment of the school opening. Even with the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), we will use this time to make the necessary adjustments and ensure that all preparations have been made for the successful opening of classes,” said Briones.
