COVID-19 task force studies ‘new normal’ after ECQ

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) said Tuesday that it’s now studying the measures to implement ‪after April 30, the day when the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon will end.

“Tuloy tuloy po ang discussions namin sa IATF tungkol sa transition,” task force spokesman Karlo Nograles said on a televised briefing.

Nograles’ statement came after President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he will lift the quarantine in Luzon once an antibody treatment against COVID-19 becomes available in the market.

The IATF-EID spokesman did not mention whether the ECQ will be lifted or not. He said that the task force will identify the industries that would be allowed to operate or who could return to work among the labor force.

After finalizing the gradual recovery from the crisis brought about by COVID-19, the task force “will set very stringent guidelines on what the new normal is,” Nograles added.

He said earlier that the “new normal” involves practicing good hygiene and following physical distancing rules.
