Booster shots for health workers ready by 17 Nov

Fully vaccinated health workers against COVID-19 may start getting their shots on 17 November announced the Department of Health (DOH) Monday.
The Food and Drug Administration had just issued an emergency use authorization for the booster doses, prompting the DOH to make the announcement.

MANILA, Philippines —Earlier in October, health authorities have approved the administration of booster shots by the end of 2021, as recommended by a government panel.

In a statement, meanwhile, the Health department recommends Moderna, Pfizer, and Sinovac vaccines as booster “regardless of the brand used for the primary series.”

For those who were given Sinovac, according to the agency, “Sinovac will be offered as a booster for those that had Sinovac as primary series.”

The final guidelines on booster administration will be released anytime soon said the National vaccine Operations Center.

To date, as with the government’s vaccine rollout, 40.93 percent of the target it set in inoculating 77.13 million Filipinos has been achieved as vaccines, both donated and purchased, have been arriving on schedule. (RA/The MiNT)
