A number of Filipino fighters are ready to step in the ring to fill up major cards in the remainder of 2021.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — These fighters are world class.
|Jerwin ‘Pretty Boy’ Ancajas||junior-bantamweight|
|John Riel ‘Quadro Alas’ Casimero||light-flyweight|
|Mark ‘Magnifico’ Magsayo|
|Marlon ‘Maranding Nightmare’ Tapales|
|Reymart ‘Assassin ‘ Gaballo|
|Jayson ‘Smasher’ Mama|
|Eumir Felix Marcial||Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist|
These fighters are represented overseas by Sean Gibbons, who runs the Pacquiao-owned MP Promotions.
Ancajas is ready to make his tenth defense of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight crown against a yet to be determined foe while Tapales, also a former world champion, is set to fight on the same night as Ancajas.
Miami-based Gaballo, on the other hand, is also on the fight agenda of MP Promotions with an upcoming bout to improve his standings in the bantamweight division.
Mama, who hails from General Santos City in Mindanao, will vie for the IBF flyweight crown against Briton Sunny Edwards this coming 11 September in England with Gibbons in the Smasher’s corner to assist in his bold bid against the British champ. Mama holds an undefeated 16-0 card with nine knockouts. Edwards also has a 16-0 ledger but has only four knockouts.
In the pipeline are Marcial and Magsayo with the Olympian bronze medalist targeting to fight for the second time as a professional in December while Magsayo is aiming for a return to the ring following his savage stoppage of Julio Ceja of Mexico last 21 August.
However, among the slated bouts, Casimero’s fight is the most awaited. His following all across America has grown by leaps and bounds, expecting him to continue with his winning ways as he is expected to face Filipino-American hotshot Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire on 11 December.
